NCC Cell at Jawaharlal Nehru College, Boko was established in the year 2015 with the primary goal of providing cadets with an opportunity to develop leadership skills, discipline, and a sense of national service. This cell started with an enrollment of 18 cadets. And each year a total number of 18 cadets gets opportunity to enroll inclusive of SD and SW ( Senior Division (boys) : 10 & Senior Wing(girls) : 8 respectively. The demand of enrollment stands high as each year around 200 students try their luck to get enrolled. It’s a three year course where cadets receive B certificate and C certificate after completion. As the college is located in rural Kamrup, NCC Plays a pivotal role as an exposure into the military training. This NCC unit aims to offer its students a holistic education that combines academic excellence with practical, real-world experiences. In the 2nd and 3rd year the cadets will get opportunity to attend various training activities, camps and participate in competition that complement their academic learning. The college primarily offers training under the Army Wing of the NCC. While the focus is on military drills, leadership training, and physical fitness, cadets also engage in various social welfare and community service activities. The NCC cadets at Jawaharlal Nehru College, Boko, have opportunities to participate in national and regional-level camps, as well as events like Republic Day and Independence Day celebrations. NCC HISTORY AND ORGANIZATION The NCC in India was formed with the National Cadet Corps Act of 1948. It was raised on 15 July 1948. The origin of NCC can be traced back to the ‘University Corps’, which was created under the Indian Defence Act 1917, with the objective to make up the shortage of the Army. The NCC is headed by the Director General (DG), an officer of three-star rank. The DG is assisted by two Additional Director Generals (A and B) of two-star rank (major-general, rear-admiral or air vice-marshal). Five Brigadier level officers and other civil officials also assist him.
